Jam Frangais is a French Folk Music Jam Session that has been slowly evolving into a Soirie. It has been many different things for everyone. Musicians come to share the folk tunes and songs that they love. Our crowd comes to enjoy the free entertainment, great food, and the perfect warm ambience of Marinelli's Lounge. Some reminisce about their childhood when this music was very often played in the household by either themselves or friends, their siblings, parents, aunts and/ or uncles, grandparents, and / or neighbors. Some come to enjoy the positive feeling of the music and crowd with its near family like feel. Some also come to exercise their french. Our musicians and crowd include french folks from Quibec, New Brunswick, and Maine, first and second generation Canadians and Franco-Americans. We have musicians that come from as far as Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Our music spans from standard tunes to popular modern Quibec repetoire. Our goal with Jam Frangais is to continue to make French Folk Music accessible to any and everyone in today's world where there are still many french speaking citizens in communities here in Connecticut . We also have had "Whole Family Jam's" where we encourage those who attend our Jams to invite their children and grandchildren to expose them to our music and traditions to further pass it along. With interactive activities for the kids! Jam Frangais has begun adding more entertainment to further captivate our audiences. "It's more then just the music!" We have put together different games and questionnaires to help everyone see our music, songs, and traditions in many different ways. We have taken chansons a repondre to new interactive levels. Come out and join us as a musician or audience member and be part of our soirie of great music and lots of laughter! Our Jam is open to all acoustic instruments and all skill levels. All are welcome.
